Grab your green outfits and your four leaf clovers and get ready for St. Patrick’s Day!  Observed each year on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day is commonly celebrated with parades of lucky green leprechaun’s dancing through the streets.  Here are some fun facts we learned about St. Patrick’s Day, that you may not have known:
  • The first St. Patrick’s Day parade was not in held in Ireland, but in Boston in 1737.
  • The original color that was associated with St. Patrick was actually blue.  It wasn’t changed to green in the 19th century.
  • In the U.S. the Chicago River and the San Antonio River are both dyed green each year in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
  • There are more people in the U.S. that claim Irish heritage than all the population in Ireland.
